And here I thought I was your best friend!

I first really met Diane as she was walking down the hallway on 4 south. I had heard about her and seen her from afar but my first impression was who is this little tinkerbell with the spiky hair exuding such vitality and energy sprinkling pixie dust as she walks along. Of course, she was not there for herself but to bring a gift and to pray for someone in need. It didn't matter whether I saw Diane at MSTI, 4 outpatient or 4 south, she was alwags focused outward. She didn't want to talk about herself, rather she was focused on those around her and what was going on in their lives. It is a rare thing to be around someone who has such a hunger to help others and to share faith and encouragement the way Diane did. The last Sunday that she was admitted to the hospital, she still did not want to be the focus but instead how much could she learn about the Russian doctor, the Russian nurse and , as a matter of fact, how about learning a new Russian word. So much laughter. It was an honor and privilege to be with Diane in the last hours of her life. Even though she could not talk, she was still communicating her love for her family. Diane, even though you flew away on a cold, snowy day and left us behind, you are such a force of nature that we all are eternally changed by your presence in our lives.
