Memories of Diane, the teacher-- at Garfield Elementary School

Diane's love of people was especially evident when it came to her students at Garfield. Many of these children had received little love or attention of a positive nature, until they encountered Diane. To walk into her classroom (my room was across the hall) was to feel surrounded by love and a spirit that radiated warmth. We often prayed together before school, and it gave the day more meaning to begin it that way. I can see Diane writing my prayer requests in her journal. I was one of her "1,000 best friends," I guess. Diane did more than just give acceptance to her students. She encouraged them to be their best and taught them how to use their gifts to best advantage. Although we hadn't seen each other in several years, I always knew I could call on Diane and we would begin where we left off. She also greeted me with, "Bobbie Hobson"! The world was better with her in it, and her Christlike approach to life and those she knew or prayed for will inspire me always and forever.
